When I Grow Up...

Ever since seeing Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up in 2008, Jordan has been telling and asking about what he should be when he grows up. Of course, like good parents, we tell him anything that he wants to be. Leave it to our child to want to be an airplane when he grows up. That's right, not an airplane pilot but an actual airplane. Well tonight while watching Wheel of Fortune, he informed us that Mady is going to be the girl in the red dress (Vanna White) and that he is going to be Pat (Sajak) when they grow up. That kid's got lofty goals!

Speaking of growing up, our Madybug has been enjoying baby cereal for the last month. In case you didn't know, she has been enamored with food since she was a few weeks old. Crying while watching us eat dinner, making chewing motions during dinner, etc. You can only imagine the joy experienced by this little girl when she actually got her first taste of cereal. In case you can't, here's some pics!

Aaaaggghhhh!

The last couple of days with the kiddos have been exhausting. Jordan is now officially jealous of Mady and is really acting out. He is having a hard time listening to and obeying us. I think that he believes that he has to act out to get our attention. Of course, we are trying to show him that he still has our attention. However that does not mean that we don't sometimes lose our cool. How can we show him that he is still our Jordiebear without killing him first?! This parenting job is tough...I think we need a pay raise!

Anyway, our recent struggle with Jordan got us talking this morning about the upcoming teen battles with the two of them. We were talking about how they will probably not like us and that we will have to remind them that we are their parents and not their friends...that we are, for example, 90% parent and 10% friend with the percentages varying with their ages. I suggested that we make an adjustable chart to diagram our current level for them. Of course, as teenagers, they will just consider us lame. Will we ever win
